Lindsay Murray

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my “Member Spotlight: Leaders on the Rise“. This is a great initiative by the CSAE team and a wonderful way for members to get to know each other.

My name is Lindsay Murray and I work for the hospitality sales team at Andrew Peller Limited (APL) representing Peller Estates, Trius Winery, Wayne Gretzky Estates and Thirty Bench in Niagara, Ontario. I am fortunate enough to work in wine country everyday amidst the beautiful vineyards and extraordinary facilities; and I encourage visits if you are ever in the area! Feel free to connect with me at lindsay.murray@andrewpeller.com.

I’ve been a member with CSAE since 2018 and volunteering since the spring. I thoroughly enjoy working with associations and learning about their organization’s values. I’ve noticed how everyone I speak to is passionate about what they do and how they can further improve their association; a work-ethic I admire. I look forward to continuing my volunteering and meeting new people while learning more about the industry.

What is your association or your organization doing, in this industry, that is innovative?

I am honored to have the opportunity to work with an incredible team and represent an organization that shares my passion for creating memorable experiences in Niagara, my home. If you haven’t noticed… I am extremely ‘Niagara Proud’ and I’m delighted to work for an innovative organization that strives to make lasting impressions.

What do you get out of your membership with CSAE?

One of the best aspects of having a CSAE membership is attending networking events where you can meet and connect with professionals who are very knowledgeable about the industry. Initiating an open discussion with a fellow member can lead to inspiring conversations and impactful advice that can enhance your career. I believe I learn the best from others, and most are willing to teach lessons they once learned.

What is one thing you want people to know about you?

Pinpointing one thing about me is a difficult task… based on what I hear most from friends and family, I am a ‘closet nerd who also enjoys sports’. So, if you ever want to talk volleyball and/or Starwars, you know who to contact.

What is your greatest achievement?

In a nutshell, one of my greatest achievements was quitting a ‘comfy’ position with the municipal government and starting over at a local, family-operated winery. I have a BA in Tourism and Environment and I wanted to pursue a career that related to my education. In a 5-year period, I worked my way up from an assistant to a senior role within the hospitality industry.

What does leadership mean to you and how do you lead others in your organization?

I strongly believe in the importance of leading by example and the best mentors I’ve had throughout my career were hard workers. They understand the importance of executing any task successfully (even the mundane ones) and it motivated me to do the same. Now, as a leader, to gain trust and respect from my surrounding colleagues one must work hard and demonstrate firsthand how success is achieved.

What is your number one travel destination?

Och Aye! Easy answer, Scotland! This is my number one travel destination due to my heritage. Fun fact, I’ve tried haggis… and it’s not that bad.
